Privacy
There is no customer database. That is not a policy position, it is how the thing is built — so most of this page is about what does not happen.
The app
InstantRAW has no analytics, no crash reporting, no telemetry and no account. Your photographs never leave your Mac. Your licence key is checked against a public key built into the app, so it does not contact anything to verify that you paid.
While you browse a card, it keeps full-resolution copies of the photos you are near in a cache folder on your Mac (~/Library/Caches/InstantRAW), so the next frame opens instantly instead of waiting on the card. These copies never leave the machine, and they stay after the card is ejected so the same shoot reopens fast next time. Settings has a Clear local copies button that empties the folder whenever you want the space back.
It makes two kinds of network request, and no others. Neither carries anything about you: no identifier, no licence key, no account, no counter. Like any web request they do reveal your IP address to the server answering them, and that is the whole of what they disclose.
The first, at most once a week, downloads a list of withdrawn licence keys so that a refunded order stops working. The whole list is fetched and compared on your machine, so the request says nothing about which key you hold.
The second, when the app starts, asks a small file on this site which version is current. If yours is older, the new version downloads quietly in the background and installs the next time you open the app. It is the same question for everyone and the answer is the same file, so it identifies nothing.
Both fail silently. If either request is slow, blocked or broken, the app carries on exactly as if it had never been made — neither one can delay or interrupt looking at photographs.
Buying
Payment is handled by Stripe. They receive your email address and your payment details; I never see a card number. Stripe keeps that record because tax law requires it — see Stripe’s privacy policy.
I do not keep a copy. Your licence key is derived from the Stripe order whenever it is needed rather than stored, which is why “lost my key” works without there being anything to look it up in. Your email address is inside the key itself, and the key lives on your Mac.
Licence emails are sent through Resend, which processes the address in order to deliver the message. There is no mailing list and you will not be emailed about anything else.
This site
Hosted on Vercel, with no analytics and no cookies beyond what is needed to serve the page. Nothing here tracks you between visits.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, or its deletion, at hello@instantraw.app. For anything held about a purchase that means asking Stripe, since they hold the record and I do not. Deleting a payment record is limited by the seven-year retention Dutch tax law requires.
